01/21/2018 – Because of a law that went into effect in November, several school districts, including Owasso, could get their own special license plate.
The only stipulation is that the Oklahoma Tax Commission has to receive at least 100 pre-paid applications for each individual plate by May 1 of 2018.
A portion of the money raised would go back to the individual school districts.
These tags are available for Jenks, Bixby, Owasso, Collinsville, Sperry, Skiatook, Rejoice and East Central.
If you apply for one of the tags but the tax commission doesn’t receive enough applications, it says your money will be refunded.
The Oklahoma Tax Commission says the tags cost $35, with $20 of that going to the school district. The OTC says anyone can request a tag for a district not covered by the law, but it requires 500 pre-paid applications in that case.
