The Miss Amazing Pageant will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 6pm at the Bailey Education Foundation in Owasso. The Miss Amazing Pagenat is for girls ages 5 to 35 years old with disabilities. The pageant is designed to give girls a place to show their personalities, embrace their individuality, and to learn leadership skills. There are no contestant fees. Contestants are simply asked to donate 10 canned goods each. The canned goods collected will be donated to a local food pantry in Owasso.
Girls wishing to participate must register online at www.missamazingpageant.com by midnight March 5th. A representative from the Miss Amazing Pageant will also be at the Owasso Transition Fair on March 5th at the Owasso Mid-High to accept applications.
Boys with disabilities are encouraged to get involved by being a Miss Amazing Escort. These boys will have the responsibility of escorting the girls on stage. Each escort receives a medal.
All girls get a trophy and a crown. The queens get a sash in addition to the trophy and crown.
The Miss Amazing Pagenat Queens will go to Omaha, Nebraska in August for the first ever National Miss Amazing Pageant -all expenses paid. Volunteer buddies will be needed for this trip. Each girl will have a buddy with them all day to help them in the pageant. Any girl over 13 who wants to be a buddy needs to fill out a form online as well.
The platform is hunger prevention. The queens and princesses will be trained to use their titles to raise donations for their local food pantries in their own communities.
The Miss Amazing Pageant is a great way to build self-esteem in girls with disabilities.
DONATIONS NEEDED: On the day of the pageant, April 6th, the contestants will have a full day of practice, workshops, make up, hair styling, judges interviews and more. This will all take place before the actual pageant at 6pm. Donated food and drink for lunch dinner, and snacks and beverages for throughout the day are needed and very appreciated. Donations are also being accepted for items for their goody bags, as well as money to purchase crowns, sashes, trophies and T-shirts.
TICKETS: Cost is $10. Tickets go on sale March 15th. Canned good donations are welcomed as well. All money raised from this event will go towards paying for the national pageant, fees to the national office, and to start saving for the 2014 pageant.
