An Owasso officer was on routine patrol Monday, when he observed a black Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling southbound on Highway 169 at an approximate speed of 110mph in the 65mph zone.
The officer activated the emergency equipment on his patrol car and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the motorcycle failed to yield and sped away.
The officer pursued the motorcycle at speeds in excess of 100mph as the motorcycle weaved in and out of traffic, nearly striking several cars. As the rider approached I-244 and Memorial in Tulsa, he attempted to pass a row of vehicles on the right side, exited the roadway and crashed.
Officers took the rider into custody. Officers located a loaded .38 caliber revolver in the saddlebag of the motorcycle.
The rider was identified as 31 year old Brooks McCall Whiteside of Lawton.
He was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being taken to the Tulsa County Jail.
