Orval "Bud" TannerOrval “Bud” Tanner, Jr., was born January 13, 1930, in Stroud, Oklahoma, to Nathan and Rena Tanner. He died Thursday, January 23, 2020, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, at the age of 90 years. After completing his high school education, Bud served his country honorably with the United States Air Force during World War II and was awarded the Victory Medal. He then served again during the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Bud was married January 18, 1971, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Peggy L. Simpkins. He spent most of his working life as a carpenter including over 26 years with Oklahoma Fixture Company. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Good Sam’s RV and Camping Club. As an accomplished carpenter, he enjoyed arts and crafts, remodeling projects, as well as wood carving. He enjoyed spending time outdoors whether working in his garden, checking his juglines for catfish, and especially Yoyo fishing for crappie off of his dock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lavern Tanner, two sons, Joe Tanner and David Tanner, and a grandson, Jesse Hurt.

 

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 27, 2020, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Leonard Pirtle officiating. Final resting place will be at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Folds of Honor Foundation, Department #13, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74182, or at donorservices@foldsofhonor.org. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
