01/16/2018 – The Owasso Character Council held their annual luncheon at the Tulsa Tech Owasso Campus today, celebrating the organizations 15th year.
Character Council members spoke on how they work to strengthen the character of our community.
Through strategic partnerships (with local families, faith, education, business and government) the Owasso Character Council provides resources and opportunities for individuals and organizations to discover and celebrate those qualities of character that make our community a great place to live. Speakers and video presentations educated attendees on the groups initiative and progress over the last 15 years.
The always inspiring Owasso Football Coach Bill Blankenship was the guess speaker at today’s luncheon, and enlightened guests on the #RiseUp movement of the Owasso Rams, what it means and its connection to character. Blankenship, a native Oklahoman, lead our Rams to become the 2017 Class 6A-1 State Champion Football Team. Coach Blankenship incorporates character training you can see in the way his teams play and the impact he has had throughout his career.
Each year, one citizen of Owasso receives the Jim McElrath award, named after the late founder of the Owasso Character Council. Today’s recipient was John Cash, owner of Trial End BBQ, for always giving selflessly to the needs of groups, organizations and individuals in Owasso.
Character matters. It doesn’t happen by accident, but by a deliberate decision to invest our time, attention and resources to strengthen those values that make our community great. To learn more about the Owasso Character Council, and their mission, visit their website at http://owassocharacter.org/
