04/23/2019 – The Owasso High School Choir leaves for New York at 4:30 am Wednesday, April 24, 2019, from Tulsa airport and will return Sunday evening.
While they are there, they are packing in everything they can, visiting the National September 11 Museum and Memorial, Times Square, workshop at Queens College, Broadway shows: Wicked and King Kong, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. They will be performing Friday Night at Carnegie Hall in The Harmonic Convergence Concert Hall. The concert features choral programs from across the country performing a mix of massed choir and individual choir repertoire.
The performance closes with the world premiere from Choirs of America’s Composer-in-Residence, Dr. Stroope
The Owasso High School choirs are a dynamic group of young singers who represent our community at various events during the school year. The Voice of Owasso consists of seven choirs: Treble Choir, Tenor/Bass Choir, Concert Choir, Chorale, Master’s Choir, Show Choir, and Jazz Choir. Students perform a wide variety of musical styles. The high school choirs consistently receive superior ratings at district and state contests. The choirs perform a fall concert, winter concert, contest concert, and Pops concert during the school year.
The choirs are directed by Mindy Bettridge, Tricia Wynn, Evelyn Kwanza, and Amanda Foyil.
