Owasso Police Arrest Man After Early Morning Standoff

09/02/2018 – At 4:30am on Sunday, September 2nd, Owasso Police were engaged in a stand-off with a suspect barricaded inside the attic of a home in the 7900 block of North 125 East Avenue.

Daniel Mitchel, 30 of Adair, OK was held up in the home for about an hour. Officers used pepper ball launchers around 5:30am to bring the stand-off to a conclusion. Mitchell finally surrendered after being overcome with the pepper agent.

Mitchel had outstanding warrants for: Violation of a Protective Order, Domestic Assault and Battery as well as Kidnapping in connection to his former girlfriend. The home in which the suspect was barricaded was also that of his former girlfriend. She was not at the residence at the time of the incident.

Upon being apprehended police report the suspect had in his possession a meth pipe and was armed with a knife.

Mitchell was treated at the scene by Owasso Fire Paramedics for exposure to pepper spray, then transported to the Tulsa County Jail for the warrants as well as multiple open charges.

Mitchell was arrested at the same residence in March of this year on counts of violation of a protective order, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school.

Court records show Mitchell has had numerous protective orders filed against him over the last 6 years.
