On Thursday, January 9th, 2014 at approximately 4:25pm Owasso Police responded to the area of 11900 East 77th St North regarding a report of minor children allegedly being photographed by a stranger as they walked home from school.
Officers made contact with the children, parents, and the alleged suspect, who is a registered sex offender.
The incident is being thoroughly investigated; however, at this time there does not appear to be a clear violation of State law. The children involved in this incident can be congratulated for their awareness and quick response in reporting this incident. Their quick action resulted in timely contact with the suspect which may serve as a deterrent to future behavior. This incident is an important reminder that children should be continually reminded to stay alert, leave an area where they feel threatened, and immediately report their concerns.
