The Owasso Police Department is aware of the perceived threating statement(s) allegedly made by a student at the Owasso Mid High. The juvenile student in question has been interviewed and temporarily removed from the school pending the outcome of an investigation. We are also aware of a potentially threatening statement (graffiti) found on a bathroom wall this morning and that matter is also being investigated at this time.
There have been multiple rumors circulating the community about a possible school shooting in Owasso, understandably causing great concern on the part of the students and parents alike. School Resource Officers are taking each of these rumors seriously until they can be proven to be founded or unfounded. Many of these rumors have greatly exaggerated the facts surrounding these incidents and so far, none of the information we have investigated has proven to be a known credible threat against any of the Owasso schools or students.
The Owasso Police Department will continue to investigate these allegations and School Resource Officers have increased precautionary measures to ensure the continued safety and security of the students. Because this is an active/ongoing investigation involving a juvenile, which thus far appears to be an internal disciplinary issue at the school, requests for additional information should be directed to the Owasso Public School administration.
