10/05/2017 – Rotary is an international network of over 1.2 million people representing over 35,000 Rotary clubs world-wide, who set out to make a lasting change in their local communities, as well as around the globe. Here locally, The Rotary Club of Owasso has been serving our great community since the mid-90’s. A core group of local businessmen and women, civic and church leaders, as well as good-hearted citizens all pulled together to start Owasso’s own local Rotary Club. That group of dedicated individuals laid the foundation for a lot of local service projects, community pride efforts, scholarship aid to area students, as well as building a close network of comradery and friendship; all to better Owasso.
The club has seen membership ebb and flow over the years and as the founding members have reached or neared retirement, moved away or changed careers, the time is now for the next generation of Owasso’s leaders to embrace philanthropy, service and volunteerism to continue the legacy that those before us worked hard for and provided us. As the new president of Rotary for 2017-2018, my goals are simple; continue to serve the Owasso community in different ways and where needed, but also identify, recruit and build the Next Generation of Owasso’s community leaders. It is vital to the success and longevity of our unique community that members and leaders of the younger generations recognize that need, step up and carry the torch forward into the future to ensure that Owasso remains the truly special community that we all know it to be.
