Our office received a message from Marilyn at the Owasso Tag Agency Thursday, stating they have been filling multiple requests for new car tags and license plate stickers due to theft.
Marilyn suggested for safety sake, that when your car sticker is applied, you take a razor and slice through the sticker from corner to corner to keep if safer from being stolen.
They also suggest checking your tag often to make sure someone has not removed your tag, or even removed and replaced it with a bad or stolen tag from another vehicle.
We spoke with Lt. Nick Boatman of the Owasso Police Department regarding such incidents. He reiterated that the sticker should be on the car tag before slicing through it. He also suggests that all car owners take a picture of their car tags and titles, keeping that information handy in case they fall victim to a stolen tag or vehicle.
It is not recommended that you keep the title to your vehicle in your vehicle or glove box.
