Rebecca Lou “Beckie” Royal Raybon was born October 24, 1957, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Ronald Leo and Peggy Rae Boggs Royal. She died Sunday, December 18, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 59 years. Beckie was reared and educated in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where she completed her secondary education and graduated with the Charles Page High School Class of 1974. She continued her education at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and earning her Bachelors of Education degree from the University of Tulsa. She spent much of her working life as a mortgage underwriter for several companies including Wells Fargo, Fannie Mae, and Veterans United Home Loans. Beckie’s job required her to travel around the country, which in turn allowed her to spend time sightseeing and touring many landmarks. Her travels also presented her the opportunity to seek out the best restaurants with the best dishes. She was an avid baseball fan and attended many Major League Baseball games and many stadiums. When she was between jobs she would fill in as a substitute teacher, requesting the junior high grades as they were the misunderstood and rebel-type age and felt like she could help them the most. She also enjoyed a variety of pastimes including gathering various Native American collectibles and art. Beckie had a very generous heart and was always willing to lend a hand to help others, especially the less fortunate and down-trodden. She touched many lives not only locally but often times in her travels.
