April 5, 2019, Owasso, OK- On the tail of their Class 2A Basketball State Championship win, the Rejoice Eagles Basketball team was presented to the House and Senate Floors by Rep. Mark Vancuren and Senator J.J. Dossett. The team traveled to the State House on Thursday, April 4th for the event.
The basketball team, led by seniors Andrew Crow, Dawson Gates, Reese Hamar, Justin Seay, and Grant Storm were presented to the members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives where Rep. Mark Vancuren spoke on behalf of Owasso and congratulated the boys on an outstanding season and a hard-fought road to the championship. Immediately following, the team was led to the Senate Floor where Senator J.J. Dossett presented the team. After the team’s recognition, the seniors were able to be recognized individually by the Senators in attendance, as they shook hands with each Senator.
The team was able to spend a few minutes with both Rep. Vancuren and Senator Dossett. They each took the opportunity to congratulate the boys and encouraged them about using this experience as a motivator in life. Senator Dossett spoke specifically about the fact that this championship is a lesson to the boys – if you work hard and keep after your goals, anything can be achieved.
The members of the basketball team thanked both Vancuren and Dossett for the opportunity to visit the statehouse. The boys rounded out their championship season (24-8) with All-State honors going to senior Justin Seay, who was named State Tournament MVP. Junior Jaden Lietzke made 1st Team All-Tournament. Also getting All-Tournament nods are seniors Reece Hamar and Andrew Crow receiving second-team honors. Additionally, Justin Seay, Jaden Lietzke, and Reece Hamar were selected to the All-Conference Team for the Pinnacle Conference.
