Ruth D. “Ruthie” Purnell was born July 17, 1939, at Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to Charles Elsworth and Ruth Louis (Cupp) Diehl. She died Monday, November 30, 2015, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 76 years. Ruthie was reared and educated in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of New Cumberland High School. She continued her education attending Juniata College at Huntington, Pennsylvania. She was married June 26, 1965, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, to Kenneth Purnell. Ruthie spent most of her working life in the education field as a teacher. She and Kenneth moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma, in 2001, and then later made their home in Owasso, Oklahoma. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including any opportunity for shopping. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso, Oklahoma. Committal service and interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens in rural Owasso. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
