Ruth Viann Messimore was born on August 27, 1970, in Rio, Texas to Don Troy Hastings and Sharon Ann (Brown) Hastings. She passed from this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at her home in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 52 years. She earned her Associates degree of Applied Science from St. Gregory’s University, an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Tulsa Community College and a bachelor’s degree in Human Development from Tulsa Community College. Ruth spent most of her working life as a Preschool Teacher with CAP Tulsa and Tulsa Public Schools and had a special bond with all of her students. She was married on December 31, 2016, in Owasso to Jayson Hale Messimore. She was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Owasso where she was very active and especially with her bible study group. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed Zumba, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends. Ruth loved teaching her students, she loved and encouraged them to be their best no matter what.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Sharon.
Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Mowery Funeral Service. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Friendship Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Linzy Slayden officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ruth’s memory to Unity Learning Academy, 2137 N. Pittsburg Ave., Tulsa, OK 74115. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso.
