What is a GED?
It is a General Education test equivalent to a high school diploma.
Who can take the test?
Anyone 16 years of age or older not enrolled in public school. Sixteen and seventeen year olds MUST have a notarized permission form from their home school AND a signed parent permission slip.
Where are the classes?
The classes are at Owasso High School. (View the Fall GED Calendar at the link below.)
When is the test?
The test is administered in late November and again in late April. Given in the Owasso High School library.
How much does it cost?
There is no charge for the classes or books. The test will cost $65 for first time test takers, $45 for a retest, and $30 for rescheduling a test. (cost subject to change) You must pay with a money order or a cashiers check made out to Drumright Adult Resource Center. (you must also have a photo ID)
May I take the test early?
Yes, but you must contact Drumright to make arrangements to take the test there (usually the 3rd Tuesday and Wednesday of each month) or call the Education Service Center in Tulsa. We only test once a semester in Owasso.
What is the test on?
The test has five sections: writing skills (grammar and essay), literature, math, science, and social studies. The literature, science, and social studies tests are reading tests. The writing and math tests are practical tests.
How do I know I passed?
Within two to three weeks you will receive your GED results. If you pass all five sections you will receive your “GED diploma” in the mail.
What if I don’t pass?
You have one year to pass the test. If you do not, you must retake the whole test. If your scores are very close to passing, you may study and retest over the failed sections within two weeks. If you wish to re-enroll, you may elect to take only those classes you need.
Do I have to attend classes?
You are not penalized if you miss class. Please note one very important FACT: if you miss class you miss valuable class instruction. THOSE WHO ATTEND CLASS PASS.
