Shirley Marie Vanderpool was born January 31, 1951, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Willey. She died, surrounded by her loved ones, Sunday, January 14, 2018, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 66 years. Shirley was reared and educated in Bartlesville and Oologah, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Oologah High School Class of 1969. She was married June 27, 1969, in Oologah to James Claude Vanderpool. Shirley was a homemaker while her children were in school and in 1998, she began working as a clerk with American Airlines in Tulsa. Shirley was a faithful Christian woman who had attended several church fellowships in the Oologah area. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including baking, shopping, traveling, and camping, taking many trips with her family to spend vacations and holidays together.

The children wish to extend their gratitude and love to Shirley’s sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Steve, and nephew, Brian Wigginton, for all of their support, and to Shirley’s aunts, her prayer warriors, Deta, Chibie, and Arvilla, and to the loving caregivers at Clarehouse.
She was preceded in death by her father, and her husband, Jim Vanderpool.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2018, at Zion Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Oologah with Pastor Charles Brown officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Scott Vanderpool, Mark Vanderpool, Paden Vanderpool, Grant Vanderpool, Josh McElhaney, and Brian Wigginton. Honorary casket bearers will be Traton Vanderpool, Garrett Vanderpool, and Steve Wigginton. Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Talala, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
