Stanley (Stan) Brink, resident of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed from this life to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 with his family by his side. Stan was 80 years of age. He was born on April 7, 1936 in Hospers, Iowa to Simon and Gertrude (VandenBrink) Brink. Stan was raised in Hospers, graduating from high school in 1953. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on November 1, 1955 and was honorably discharged in August of 1958. Stan and Lorraine Korver were united in marriage on October 2, 1959 in Orange City, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived in Orange City for two years where he worked and attended Northwestern College. They moved to Mankato, Minnesota in 1961 so that Stan could continue his education at Mankato State College. There he received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1963. From there they moved to Sioux City, Iowa where Stan worked for Montgomery Ward for one year and was transferred to Menomonie, Wisconsin. The Brink family moved to Clinton, Iowa in 1965 where Stan worked as an accountant for Clinton Corn Processing Company. Five years later, he transferred to the Rock Island Arsenal and worked for the Department of Defense as a manager over data entry. In 1975, they moved to Denver, CO; Stan worked as the Finance Officer at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal and later for Champus/Tricare as a System Accountant, retiring in 1995. While in Denver, he was very involved with the Reformed Church. In 2002, he and Lorraine moved to Owasso, OK. Stan was a member of Friendship Baptist Church as well as Gideon’s International. In his retirement, Stan enjoyed traveling and volunteering for mission work in New York, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and Cook College in Tempe, Arizona. The highlight for him and Lorraine was a 21-day trip to Kichuna Village in Uganda where they helped with the construction of new school buildings and were honored to sponsor two Ugandan grandmas. He also enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, and traveling; but the Lord and his family were always his priority.
Those that survive include his wife of 57 years – Lorraine; two children, Cheryl Murphy and husband Tracy of Centennial, Colorado and Todd Brink and wife Jeannie of Owasso, Oklahoma. Also surviving are four grandchildren – Katherine Powell and husband Kolten, as well as Tiffany, Timothy, and Christopher Brink; a sister JoAnn Nelson and husband Don of Sioux Rapids, Iowa and a brother Allan Brink and wife Sharon of Sioux Falls, South Dakota as well as many nieces and nephews. Stan was proceeded in death by his parents and a sister Marlene Alons.
Funeral services for Stan will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in the sanctuary of Friendship Baptist Church with Pastors Linzy Slayden and Loren McAlister officiating. Committal rites will conclude at 2:00 pm at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK. Visitation for Stan will be at Mowery Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 27th from 4 pm till 8pm.
