Steve Allen Singleterry, resident of Sand Springs, OK passed from this life on Monday, March 14, 2016 in Tulsa. Steve was born May 5, 1951 at Duncan, OK to Garland Loyal and Thelma (Hall) Singleterry. He was raised and received his education in Duncan. Steve attended a Missionary Bible College in Marlow, OK where he received a Bachelor’s in Applied Ministry, and later attended college in Weatherford, obtaining a Master’s degree in Education.
On December 28, 1974, Steve and Diana Lee Tidmore were united in marriage. To this union, two sons were born. Following their marriage they lived in Oklahoma City until moving to Poteau, OK for several years. There, they began their ministry together, serving in several Oklahoma churches including Poteau, Loving, Pumpkin Center near Lawton, and Antlers. Steve’s ministry focus turned to childcare in 1989, and the family moved to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in Texas, where he served as chaplain and program director for almost nine years. From 1997 till 2009, Steve was the administrator of the Baptist Children’s Home in Owasso. Following many years of ministry and service, he went to work for one of his favorite retail stores, Woodcraft in Tulsa, and later became the assistant manager. Throughout his adult life, Steve was involved in pastoral ministry, whether as a minister with youth, music or as a childcare administrator. In his younger years, he was involved in the Civil Air Patrol and held a pilot’s license. He could do most anything and enjoyed woodworking, reading, motorcycling, building and flying RC airplanes, photography, snow skiing, guns, science, history, sci-fi, yardwork, and just being outdoors. Steve was also musically inclined, singing as well as playing a variety of different instruments.
Those that survive include his wife of 41 years – Diane; children – Jason Singleterry and wife Jenny of Dallas, TX and Nathan Singleterry and wife Jillian of Owasso, OK; a grandchild, Tannyr Singleterry of Wichita, KS as well as a brother, Robert (RC) Singleterry of Tucson, AZ; a niece, Betty Black of Tulsa, OK and nephew, Robert Singleterry, Norfolk, VA and other relatives and many friends. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Shirley Black, niece, Laura Singleterry and a nephew, Robert Black.
There will be a celebration of Steve’s life held on Monday, March 21, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Tulsa with Pastor Deron Spoo officiating and assisted by Mike Lehew.
