Members of the VFW awarded Owasso High School Student Alexis Hyatt with the 2nd place Voice of Democracy essay contest award this morning at the high school.
Students were encouraged to enter the contest in Christina Quinton’s English Class.
Alexis was awarded a cash prize and a plaque.
Also awarded at the event was Carson Ball, Collinsville resident who attends Owasso High School, He took 1st place in the Collinsville VFW district. He also was awarded a cash prize and a plaque.

Established in 1947, our Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, nearly 40,000 9-12 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of $2.1 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program.
