The Oklahoma Highway Patrol announces the promotion of Major Gerald
Davidson to assistant commissioner for the Department of Public Safety.
Davidson will be officially named to the position by Commissioner Michael
C. Thompson on November 1 at 9:00 a.m. in a promotional ceremony at the
Robert R. Lester Training Center on the DPS complex, 3600 North ML King
Avenue, Oklahoma City.
Davidson graduated from the 38th OHP Academy in June 1980. Throughout his
nearly 34 years of service with the highway patrol, Davidson has held
assignments in Cleveland and Oklahoma Counties, Executive Security,
Internal Affairs and Special Investigations, Internal Audits and
Inspections, Safety Education, Public Information, and has served as Human
Resources director, Legislative liaison, director of Training as well as
Motorcycle Safety and Education Program administrator. He has also served
as zone commander for numerous field, turnpike and special service troops.
“I am truly honored to be given this opportunity by Commissioner Thompson
to serve the citizens of Oklahoma as a member of this administration,” said
Davidson. “As my focus will be the administrative and support functions of
the agency, I look forward to the privilege of working with this dedicated
group of employees as we continue to provide services for the public.”
