01/22/2018 – We have had numerous questions about car break-ins overnight in The Fairways, Lake at Bailey Ranch and The Crossing.
On Monday morning at 1:15am, an Owasso Police officer on patrol in the 10100 block of 93rd Street North observed a pickup in the driveway of a residence with door open/lights on/glove box open. The officer contacted homeowner and confirmed that the vehicle had been burglarized.
Officers canvassed the surrounding area and located other vehicles possibly burglarized as well. As the morning went on, additional victims discovered that their vehicles had also been burglarizes.
At 2:30am an officer observed a Maroon Mercury 4 door driving slowly through a neighborhood near 10000 East 93rd Street North, the same area where the auto burglaries had occurred an hour earlier. The officer followed the vehicle and observed that the tag was expired. When the officer activated his emergency lighting to affect a traffic stop, the vehicle sped away. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle yielded near 10800 East 95th Street North. When they approached the vehicle, one of the officers saw a wallet laying in the front seat, which he recognized as the same wallet that had just been stolen from a vehicle earlier. Officers also observed an empty handgun holster laying in the seat next to the driver.
Officers removed the occupants of the vehicle and secured them in handcuffs. The driver was identified as Michael Proctor. Passengers were identified as Albert Odom and Gabrielle Ponce De Leon.
A wallet was located in possession of Odom, which contained a stolen agent badges and credentials for Department of Homeland Security Immigration Customs and Enforcement. The stolen credentials were linked to a burglary that occurred in Tulsa County prior to the traffic stop (Tulsa County Sheriff’s Jurisdiction). Officers located a window punch (burglary tool) next to the seat occupied by Odom. The back seat passenger (DeLeon) was found to be in possession of 1.8 grams of methamphetamine and a wallet with small baggies, syringes, and a small amount of marijuana was laying in the rear floorboard next to her. A Kimber 9mm pistol was located in the glove compartment of the vehicle, and it was identified as belonging to the victim of a burglary in the area. During the subsequent inventory of the vehicle items were located and positively identified as belonging to victims numerous other auto burglaries in the area. Additional items were located inside the vehicle, which detectives are currently working to identify as possible stolen property.
The suspect’s vehicle was recovered/impounded by officers after the pursuit and they have evidence to suggest that it contains additional stolen property related to other burglaries in Owasso/Tulsa County. Detectives are currently executing a search warrant to get inside the vehicle and recover the suspected stolen property. With a series of incidents like this, there is often a large amount of recovered property that likely came from thefts and the task of identifying the legitimate owners is sometimes monumental for the officers. Detectives will be cataloging the recovered items and attempting to match the items to theft or burglary reports in the area. If someone suspects that they might have had items stolen by this crew that we recovered, we encourage them to file a police report as soon as possible with a detailed description of their missing property.
