One of the things we remember about 911 is how people prayed for those involved in this tragedy, along with those that responded to help. Here is a great thought on Prayer: Five-year old Tyler, told his Dad he wanted a little baby brother. His dad instructed him to pray every day for two months and see what would happened. Tyler was eager and prayed every day for a month. But he began to get skeptical. He checked around the neighborhood and found out that this had never happened in history. He thought, “you don’t just pray for two months and then, whammo- a new baby brother.” So Tyler quit praying. Two months passed. Tyler’s mother went to the hospital and when she came back home, he was surprised to see his mother holding not one, but TWO brothers. Twins!! Tyler’s dad looked at Tyler and said, “Now aren’t you glad you prayed?” Tyler hesitated and looked at his dad and said, “Yes, but aren’t you glad I quit when I did?”
Tyler’s dad knew in advance that Tyler’s prayer would be answered. And God knows in advance whether or not our prayers will be answered too. He can see the future. God knows our wants and needs. So why pray? Prayer is a powerful thing. Our prayers do matter! God wants us to get involved with what His plans are for us and the things around us. So don’t just thrive now and then with prayer. Thrive daily by connecting with God in prayer.
