Help OCR Eliminate Hunger Among Our Students
Owasso Community Resources is looking for volunteers willing to adopt a school and pick up and deliver boxes of food sacks for students. Each box contains 8 food sacks. Boxes are delivered each week and volunteers can set their own schedule. Currently, OCR’s volunteers are helping more than 360 students each week and are also working on a way to help student during the summer. Owasso Community Resources – in partnership with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and Owasso Public Schools – is providing Food 4 Kids Backpacks to students. Each week, OCR volunteers deliver boxes of these food sacks to schools who provide them to students who need a helping hand over the weekend with food. Nearly 30 percent of students in our schools qualify for free or reduced lunch cost. Childhood hunger is a problem we can solve through efforts like the Food 4 Kids program.
