Walter Harland Andrew was born September 6, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Harland Glaucious Andrew and Ruby Mae Clark Andrew. He went to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 22, 2024, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years. Walter was reared and educated in Tulsa and attended Webster High School and Central High School. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army from 1961-1964. Walter was married on October 22, 1983, in Tulsa, to Sharon Buxton. They had made their home in Owasso since 1995.
Walter spent most of his working life with the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk. He was a longtime member of Southwood Baptist Church in Tulsa. Walter enjoyed a variety of pastimes including watching the old classic television shows such as The Rifleman, Bonanza, The Andy Griffith Show, and others. Earlier in life he enjoyed spending time out on the golf course. Walter dearly loved his family and was affectionately known as “Grandpa” to his grandchildren. He and Sharon loved going to their granddaughters’ piano recitals and soccer games, as well as watching their grandson play flag football and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Ruby Andrew, brother, Joe Andrew, sisters, Lou Rehbein, Jane Morgan, and Sue Taylor, and daughter, Kriste Andrew.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Darrin McKnight officiating. There will be a public visitation one hour prior to the service. Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Walter’s memory to the Folds of Honor Foundation, 5971 North Patriot Drive, Owasso, Oklahoma, or www.foldsofhonor.org. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
