02/23/2025 – Owasso Police and Fire Medics responded this afternoon to Three Lakes Pond, near 8500 N 117th E Ave, after two juveniles fell through lingering ice and began screaming for help.

Thanks to the quick actions of a nearby resident who heard their cries, the children were rescued. The Good Samaritan rushed to the pond, threw them a rope, and helped them safely reach the shore. When first responders arrived, the juveniles were out of the water but soaking wet and suffering from the cold.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to the resident(s) whose swift response saved these children’s lives.

This serves as an important reminder for parents—talk to your kids about the dangers of walking on frozen ponds, lakes, or other small bodies of water. Thin ice is never safe to test—literally or figuratively.
