William Martin “Marty” Gatton II was born on June 20, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky to William Martin Gatton and Betty (Wheeler) Gatton. He passed from this life on Friday, March 8, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years. Marty was raised and educated in Louisville and attended Male High School. He later earned his GED in the Army after enlisting before his graduation at the age of 17 years. While serving honorably in the United States Army, Marty learned engineering skills working on the Nike and Hercules Missiles. He was married in Athens, Alabama on October 9, 1967, to Rose Mary (Rhodes) Gatton. Over the years, Marty acquired three associate degrees in Electronics, Accounting and Human Resources. He spent most of his working life in compensation and human resources with Standard Oil, Telex Computer Products, and Beverly Enterprises. During retirement he helped his sons with the accounting at the Owasso Fitness Zone. Marty had been a faithful member of Highland Park Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, Mount Washington Church in, Mount Washington, Kentucky, Central Christian Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and most recently, First Assembly in Owasso. In his spare time Marty enjoyed a variety of past times such as reading, woodworking, gardening, and solving jigsaw puzzles, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty Gatton, and his sister, Stephanie Gatton.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, in the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral service with be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Owasso First Assembly with Pastor Bruce McCarty and Pastor Mike Shepherd officiating. Interment will be held at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in Marty’s memory to Owasso First Assembly, 9341 N. 129th E. Ave, Owasso, OK 74055, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service.
