Visiting Angels of Green Country recognized caregiver Hilda Gonzalez for her heroic efforts on the job. Hilda was caring for a senior client when the daughter and infant grandchild stopped by for a visit. During the visit, the child choked on some food and could not breathe. While the mother called 911, Hilda remained calm and used her CPR training to dislodge the item from the child’s windpipe, saving the child’s life.
“I just tried to remain calm,” Hilda recounts. “It was a very scary thing, but I just did what had to be done. I’m glad I was there to help.” The family has chosen to remain anonymous, but is very grateful for Hilda’s quick action and her ability to remain cool under pressure.
Hilda is a resident of Sand Springs, and has been a valuable part of the Visiting Angels team for over 5 years.
