I have a scar on my forehead from a childhood bike accident. Are there any products that are effective for fading an old scar?

Answer:

There are many products that are marketed to help fade and soften scars. Unfortunately, there is very little information about the scientific validity of their effectiveness. There has been very little clinical research done to demonstrate this. Mederma is probably the most familiar product, but in one study, was shown to be no more effective than just plain Vaseline. One product that has shown some clinical effectiveness is silicone gel sheeting. These are reusable silicone sheets that are applied directly on the scar for 8-12 hours per day for 8-12 weeks. These are available in the pharmacy or online. Hope this helps!
