COLLINSVILLE, Okla. – The Cherokee Nation will celebrate the grand opening of its newest food distribution center in Collinsville on Thursday, Jan. 16.
The 5,500-square-foot facility on the north side of Collinsville will provide healthy foods for at least 300 Native American families per month.
The Cherokee Nation operates seven food distribution centers and five tailgate sites within its 14-county jurisdiction to ensure eligible Native American families have access to healthy foods. More than 100,000 participants shopped in the Cherokee Nation’s supermarket-style centers or tailgate services last year. Families were provided more than $6.7 million worth of nutritional USDA foods.
The center creates five new jobs in Collinsville.
