Last night our Board voted to endorse the proclamation to support and participate in the March 31st Education Rally at the Capitol by sending a delegation of both parents and teachers to the event rather than dismissing school for a day.
The district is prepared to commit several buses to transport both parents and a limited number of teachers who wish to attend the rally. (Teachers will be required to take a “personal day” to attend the Rally.) Parents are encouraged to contact their school’s principal if they wish to ride on a district bus to the Rally at a cost of $10 each (thereby making it legal to utilize school transportation) to cover fuel and driver. The week before the Rally they will be contacted as to a meet up point as well as a departure and return time from the Capitol.
The March 31st Education Rally is very important to us all and as your Superintendent I will most certainly be there to help represent our district. My hope is that we will have a sizable delegation, particularly if a large number of our parents and patrons decide to go as well. The buses are an option/convenience that we are offering, but certainly anyone would have the option to drive their personal vehicle to the event if they desire to do so, however, please be aware that parking will be at a premium.
