Calvin Ray Rush, resident of Collinsville, passed away Sunday March 23, 2014 in Owasso. He was 70 years of age. Calvin was born November 23, 1943 at Melbourne, Arkansas to Hina and Armelda (Neel) Rush. Calvin was raised in Nowata, OK He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 11, 1964, serving in Vietnam. Calvin was honorably discharged in May of 1966. On February 8, 1967, he and Evelyn Darlene Haynes were united in marriage in Nowata. They made their first home there until moving to Collinsville. To this union, two children were born. Calvin was a man of many talents, and worked as a press operator for Kaiser Aluminum until retirement. He was an ordained minister, loved photography, going to train shows and in earlier years building model planes with gasoline powered engines. Calvin had a talent for woodworking, even building his own home.
Those that survive include his daughter Tammy Sirmon and husband Michael of Collinsville; a son Michael Rush and wife Amy of Nowata, OK; grandchildren – Eric Sirmon, Jonathan Sirmon, Megan Rush, Micaela Rush, Hunter Hicks, and Jessica Hicks; and great grandchildren Brian, Alina and soon to be born Izzabella. Also surviving are a brother Lonnie Rush and wife Linda of Nowata; and 2 sisters Mary Fowler of Coffeyville, KS and Linda Miller and husband Donnie of Wann, OK. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 27, 2014 in the Chapel of Mowery Funeral Service at 10:30 AM with Rev. Michael Sirmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Talala. Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army. Visitation will be from 4pm – 8pm on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the funeral home.
