Esther Matilda Cecil Pedersen passed from this life on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at the Evergreen Care Center in Owasso. She was 86 years of age. Esther was born in Saskatoon, Canada to Fredrick Jackson and Bertha Matilda (Smith) Moffitt on March 6, 1928. She was raised in Hemingford, Nebraska graduating from Hemingford HS with the class of 1947. On July 25, 1947 Esther and William Earl Pedersen were united in marriage. During their married life, they resided in Lincoln, NE before moving to Guernsey, Wyoming. They later resided in Bridgeport, NE; Curtis, Ne; Sterling, Colorado and finally Ogallala, NE before moving to Owasso in Sept. of 1999. Mr. Pedersen preceded her in death on June 24, 1992. A lifelong Lutheran, she was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Owasso and was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Those that survive include her sons – William “Bill” Pedersen of Camano Island, WA and Dwight Pedersen of Owasso. Also surviving are grandchildren Diana Pedersen, David Pedersen and Desiree Smith; and a sister Florence Fox of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Besides her husband, Esther was preceded by her parents, sisters Leona Gatiant, Loretta Keenan and Evelyn Osborn; as well as two grandchildren William and Victoria Pedersen.
Graveside services for Esther will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Eighmy of Messiah Lutheran Church in North Platte, NE officiating. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to the Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso, OK.
