Doris Austin was born October 8, 1925, in Belle, Missouri, to Bruce E. and Mayme O. (Milam) Ridenhour. She died Friday, July 18, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years. Doris was married October 8, 1941, in Sageeyah, Oklahoma, to Willis B. Austin. They had made their home in Collinsville, Oklahoma, since 1951. In her early career, Doris worked with Enterprise Photo, but she primarily worked as a homemaker and caring for her family. She enjoyed being outdoors working in the yard, especially growing and taking care of her flowers. She also canned a variety of produce. Listening to music was a favorite pastime, but her grandchildren were one of her greatest joys.
Loving family members include: Her husband of over 72 years; Willis, of the home Four children; Danny Austin and his wife Sue, of Collinsville Judy Williams and her husband Kenneth, of Collinsville Don Austin and his wife Jackie Jo, of Chelsea, Oklahoma Janet Wakefield, of Collinsville Seven grandchildren; Joni McClure Jill Ramirez and her husband Pete Dianna Turnbull and her husband Brad Kelly Williams and his wife Denise Ben Austin and his wife Ruby Becky Austin Jared Wakefield Nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson. And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond Ridenhour, Richard Ridenhour, Harvey Ridenhour, Harold Ridenhour, and Dillard Ridenhour, and one sister, Dorothy Delaney.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Baptist Tabernacle in Collinsville with Pastor Charles Modrell officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Pete Ramirez, Kelly Williams, Ben Austin, Jared Wakefield, Chance Turnbull, and Colton Turnbull.
