Sam Gardner, longtime area resident of Owasso, was born March 15, 1937 in Atchison, Kansas. He died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years. Sam was reared and educated in Tulsa where he graduated From Central High School. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in business. Sam spent much of his working life as a draftsman with the Oklahoma Corp of Engineers, then later became owner of his company, Plastic Products, Inc. He also spent time serving with the Oklahoma National Guard. Sam enjoyed a variety of pastimes including camping, traveling, and learning taxidermy. He also enjoyed gardening and working with livestock.
Loving family members include: Three children; Gai Potter and husband Gary Grant Gardner Gavin Gardner and wife Angela, all of Owasso, Oklahoma Seven grandchildren; Amanda Waits and husband Jeff, of Broken Arrow, OK Summer Hurst and husband Steve, of Owasso Ashley Potter, of Tulsa, OK Gates Gardner, of Phoenix, Arizona Graham Gardner, of Owasso Gracie Gardner, of Owasso Brantley Gardner, of Owasso Six great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Frances Gardner, and his sister, Karen Smith.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Gavin Gardner officiating. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 2227 East Skelly Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74105.
