Jesse Ray Childress was born December 11, 1931, in Bristol, Texas to Wayne Childress and Irene Singer. He died Tuesday, October 21, 2014, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years. Jesse was reared and educated in Bristol, Texas. He then went on to join the Marine Corps where he earned the United States Military Purple Heart Award. Upon his return from overseas, Jesse attended Southern Methodist University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. He married Jean Oyler in Dallas, Texas, on November 11, 1955, and they have spent 59 wonderful years together. Jesse worked as an accountant for various companies throughout the states and enjoyed his time at each place, but was always intrigued to move and see new cities with Jean.
Loving family members include: Son; Kevin Childress, of Corona, California Daughter and son-in-law; Lisa and Stephen Kovacs, of Owasso Grandchildren; Jason Childress, of Moreno Valley, California Jasmine Childress, of Paris California Jesse Kovacs, of Owasso Katlyn Kovacs, of Owasso Six Great Grandchildren Brother; Larry Childress, of Dallas, Texas He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Faye Leath.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2014, at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with Reverend Leonard Pirtle., Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
