Mary Jane Harter was born September 26, 1944, in Burkburnett, Texas, to Garland Warner and Dorothy Laverne (Strehl) Chasteen. She died Sunday, November 23, 2014, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 70 years. Mary completed her secondary education in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and was a graduate of Bartlesville College High School. She spent most of her working life organizing and developing contracts for the Department of Energy, before retiring in 2004. She was a member of the National Contract Management Association. She was married June 16, 1996 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, to Bradley Harter. Mary enjoyed the simple things of life. She was just an all-around nice person in general and loved taking care of people. She especially loved and enjoyed being around little children. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her husband playing billiards.
Loving family members include: Her husband; Bradley, of the home Daughter; Paula Hubbard, of Broken Arrow, OK Two grandsons; Richard Hubbard and Matthew Hubbard, both of Broken Arrow Brother and sister-in-law; Robert and Jodi Chasteen, of Brentwood, Tennessee Sister and brother-in-law; Margaret and Bill Weston, of Guthrie, OK She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2014, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Father Chris Waters officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Kevin Conklin, Jeremy Edwards, Brian Chasteen, Bob Chasteen, and Bill Weston.
