Alnown Strain was born October 17, 1919, in Gray Summit, Missouri, to Albert Livingston Nothstine, Sr. and Allie (Mealer) Nothstine. She died Monday, February 2, 2015, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years. Alnown was married May 22, 1939, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to John Raymond Strain. She spent most of her working life as a homemaker and caring for her family. She was a longtime faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Owasso as well as the Owasso VFW Post #7180 Ladies Auxiliary. Alnown enjoyed a variety of pastimes including fishing, reading, and cooking. She also enjoyed needlework and crafts, especially embroidery. Most important to her was her family.
Loving family members include; Three sons; Jim Strain and his wife Ida, of Tulsa, OK J.D. Strain and his wife Pat, of Kansas Joe Strain and his wife Enid, of Tulsa, OK Two daughters; Judy Fruechting and her husband Carl, of Gore, OK Janet Loffer and her husband Larry, of Collinsville, OK 15 grandchildren 38 great grandchildren And a host of great great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, sister, Martha Gephardt, and brother, Albert Nothstine, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Owasso with Pastor Taud Boatman officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Owasso VFW Post #7180, c/o Richard Simmons, 7708 North 131st East Court, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055.
