Sharon LeAnn Thomas was born September 24 1959, in Tulsa Oklahoma, to Raymond Oscar and Mary Ida (Sides) York. She died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 55 years. Sharon was reared and educated in Tulsa and graduated with the Will Rogers High School Class of 1978. She was married June 9, 1984, in Tulsa, to Rick Thomas. She spent most of her working life as a homemaker and caring for her family. Outside the home she worked as a paraprofessional in special education in Oologah and Skiatook. Sharon was a longtime faithful member of Assemblies of God in Skiatook and for the past nine years in Owasso. While in Skiatook, she was very involved in teaching missionettes, and in Owasso was currently teaching the third grade Sunday School Class. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including scrapbooking, but family was most important to her. She loved going on family vacations and was a very thorough planner. She was very involved in planning both of her daughters’ weddings.
Loving family members include, Her husband Rick, of the home, Two daughters Michelle Wagner and her husband Joshua of Tulsa OK, Crystal Thomas of Oologah and her fiancé’ Aaron Jackson of Owasso, Three brothers Steve York, of Tulsa Stuart York and his wife Charlene, of Broken Arrow OK, Stan York of Tulsa, Two sisters Sheila Noble and her husband Glenn of Owasso, Sharlene Hopkins and her husband Gary of Sperry OK, And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the First Assembly of God in Owasso with Pastor Bruce McCarty officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Kevin Noble, Marcus Rodrigues, Stuart Ray York, Taylor York, Brad Holland, and Steven Holland. Committal services and interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Sharon Thomas Memorial Fund, c/o Owasso First Assembly of God, 9341 North 129th East Avenue, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
