Dorothy Lenora Bass, longtime resident of the Oologah – Collinsville area, passed from this life on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Evergreen Care Center in Owasso. Dorothy was born May 25, 1923 at Maud, OK to Hiram Robert and Ola Lee (Smoot) Russell. Because of her father’s work, she grew up in various locations. In 1939, she and Russell Bass were united in marriage in Anadarko, OK. To this union, a daughter was born. Dorothy and Russell came to the Oologah-Collinsville area in 1969. She was a longtime member of the Oologah First Baptist Church. Her church and family were always Dorothy’s priorities.
Those that survive include her daughter – Carol Boren and husband Elvis of Owasso; grandchildren Dwayne Boren of Collinsville, Carole McCullough and husband Brian and Steven Boren and wife Barbara, all of Oologah. Also surviving are 7 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren; a sister Mary Frances Davis of Seminole, OK and niece Billy Cossey, also of Seminole. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation for Dorothy will be Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 2-6pm at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, June 8th in the sanctuary of the Oologah First Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Downum officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Collinsville, OK. Arrangements and services were entrusted to the Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
