When Chrysty Lansdowne and her boyfriend Jedidiah Bizzell went shopping at Walmart Tuesday, the last thing they expected they would be doing was saving the life of a baby.
“We were in the Walmart parking lot when we heard a weird sound coming from the car parked near us” Chrysty said. “We walked passed it first, but decided to check out the sound. “
Chrysty told us it didn’t sound quite right so Jedidiah looked in the windows and saw a baby girl in her car seat behind the drivers seat. She said the back door was locked so they tried the drivers side door which was open. Even with the front door unlocked they still could not get the rear doors open, so they removed the child through the front seat and called the police.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the Owasso Walmart after receiving a call about a small child locked in a car.
Owasso Police arrested Hanna Secondi of Talala on a child neglect complaint.
Police stated Secondi said she was in the Walmart for about 45 minutes and had forgotten the child when she got out of the vehicle. Lansdowne told us “I don’t know how she could have. She had other people with her so I don’t understand how they ALL could have forgotten she was left in the car.”
According to an Owasso Fire the temperature inside the vehicle was at least 120 degrees after ten minutes of the doors of being closed. The infant was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated.
Lansdowne said “The poor baby girl had a wet diaper, was dripping in sweat and had milk residue in the little rolls of her neck. I was so upset when she (the mother) showed up crying. I told one of the officers, I don’t care how much that woman cries. She left that poor baby alone in that van and I hope her tears don’t get her out of the consequences.” Lansdowne said paramedics told her that if the baby had been in there much longer she wouldn’t have made it.
Secondi is being held in the Tulsa County Jail on a $50,000 bond
