Joseph Franklin “Jack” Brewer was born October 10, 1935, on a farm in rural Brewer, Missouri, to Joseph Julian and Mamie Elizabeth (Franklin) Brewer. He died Sunday, November 15, 2015, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years. Jack was reared and educated in Perryville, Missouri, and was graduate of Perryville High School. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne and was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal and Parachutist Badge. He was married July 10, 1954, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to Velma Fadler. Jack spent much of his working life in highway construction as a superintendent with different companies including Koss, S.J. Groves, and Granite Road Construction. He gave time back to his community and was a member of the Shriner’s, American Legion, and the Optimist Club. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes such as playing the guitar, woodworking, fishing, reading, especially history, and rock collecting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Brewer; daughter, Kim Nelson; and a brother, Joseph Julian Brewer, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. After transporting overland to Perryville, Missouri, a second visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at the Young and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the Young and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ray White officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Yount Community Cemetery in Yount, Missouri. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Yount Community Cemetery, C/o Gary Hahn, HC 62 Box 40, Sedgewickville, Missouri, 63781.
