Audrey Ann Peterson, resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Monday afternoon December 7, 2015, at the age of 87 years. Audrey was born March 31, 1928, in Elkhart, Iowa, to Floyd Francis and Margaret Luola (McFarling) Cory. She was raised and received her education there, graduating from Elkhart High School. Audrey and Robert L. Peterson were united in marriage in Des Moines, Iowa. They made their home in Ankeny, Iowa. In the early 1970’s they moved to Tulsa; Owasso has been her home since 2006. Audrey worked for many years as church secretary for John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, where she was also a Deacon and Trustee. She had been active in the Mariner’s and Keenager’s groups and donated her time delivering Meals on Wheels until later years. Besides being a church secretary, she had been an executive secretary for Tulsa Teachers Credit Union and had also worked for several area doctors. Audrey loved painting, especially birdhouses, as well as singing and sewing.
Those that survive include her daughters, Kristine Edmundson and husband Carl of Owasso, Susan Wilson and husband Gary of Warrenton, Virginia, and Karen Brown and husband Ken also of Owasso; grandchildren, Shawn Reynolds, Shannon Coulander and wife Sarah, Misty Coulander, Eric Wilson, Kristine Wilson and Jennifer Burgos and husband Victor; great grandchildren, Shawn, Cory, Brett and Brielle Reynolds, Skyler and Allison Coulander, Anthony and Arik Alexander and Logan and Riley Burgos. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 2012, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services for Audrey will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2015, in the sanctuary of the John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 8181 East 31st Street, Tulsa, with the Reverend Fran Callaway officiating. Following the service, she will be entombed with her husband at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa. The family has requested that to honor Audrey’s memory, persons may contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association – Oklahoma Chapter, Department 2845, Tulsa, OK 74182.
