The Owasso Chapter, NSDAR, announces the winner of the Christopher Columbus Essay Contest, grades 9-12. Ashleigh Warren is the winner from Owasso High School. Lindsey McCash is second place winner, and Morghan Cyr is the third place winner.
The essay subject was to discuss the similarities and differences between Christopher Columbus’ voyage to the new world and Charles Lindbergh’s first solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean, and the effect the 400 years difference made to their accomplishments and achievements.
The Owasso Chapter would like to thank Ms Sherry Beeson for her efforts in letting her students do the essays. The chapter received 108 essays from
the 12th grade class. These had to be judged by three judges who gave points to each essay. The points were then tabulated to select the winner.
