From Owasso Police Department: 01/20/2016
On the morning of January 20th, the Owasso Police Department was made aware of a threatening statement posted on a social media site, reportedly made by a female student at the Owasso High School. The post insinuated that there might be a school shooting in Owasso. Within minutes of the notification, Owasso School Resource Officers were in contact with the student and confirmed her location off of school grounds. As a precaution, additional police officers were stationed at the schools until the legitimacy of the threat could be properly investigated and the accused student’s whereabouts could be confirmed. She has since been interviewed and she is cooperating with officers.
Due the juvenile status of the student and the fact that this is still an ongoing investigation, additional comments would not be appropriate at this time. Any inquiries about the student’s disciplinary status should be submitted to the Owasso Public Schools.
