Last night my husband attended a men’s only event at the Rustic Cuff location at the Vineyard Shopping Center at 106th and Memorial in Tulsa.
While waiting in line, the Nothing Bundt Cakes location next door was passing out samples and registering for giveaways. My husband actually won a box of mini bundt cakes. When he picked them up he asked if by chance they had anything gluten free.
I started eating gluten free about 4 months ago, and haven’t looked back, as I have noticed huge changes in the way I feel and with issues I was having. That said, it is hard to not crave the things you once enjoyed. Gluten free options often leave something to be desired. (okay, a LOT to be desired)
Marie, who was running the bakery showed him a gluten free chocolate chip mini bundt cake. She said they had tried numerous recipes until they came up with this one. She told him “if she wouldn’t eat it, she wouldn’t sell it.”
He decided to purchase one (okay maybe it was two) and brought them back to Owasso with him. I was to say the least doubtful of their taste and assumed he had wasted his money.
Opening the container it looked moist. I stuck my finger in the cream cheese icing which was delicious, but i still wondered – what about the cake?
With a fork and cold glass of milk, I dug in. It was love at first bite. Moist, flavorful and delicious. I could find nothing about it that even hinted at it being gluten free.
I found only one problem, Nothing Bundt Cakes is 20 miles away.
The cake container does state “gluten free, but not prepared in a gluten free environment” for those it makes a difference to.
So, if you are on a gluten free diet and are in the area, give them a try. You will be glad you did.
