Doris Lorraine Brewer of Owasso, Oklahoma, died Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the age of 87 leaving behind a loving and devoted family. Doris was born January 12, 1929, in Cardin, Oklahoma, to Edward and Lola Burggraf, the second of their six children. Doris married her high school sweetheart, Bill Brewer, in Baxter Springs, Kansas, on April 26, 1947. She and Bill loved art and ran a framing studio part time in their retirement out of their home. Bill preceded Doris in death in 2005; they were married for 58 years. Doris was also preceded by her son Ronald Brewer and brothers J.C. Burggraf, Clarence Burggraf and Jerry Burggraf.
She is survived by her sister Carol Jones of Springfield, Missouri; brother Larry Burggraf of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law Debra and Derek Hawkins of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and son and daughter-in-law Bill and Margaret Brewer of Owasso, Oklahoma. Doris was a supportive grandmother who took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of her grandchildren Ryan and Jenni Hawkins, Brandon and Amanda Hawkins, David and Amanda Brewer, Ashley and Zachary Deetz, and Kevin Brewer and fiancé Amber Sackett. Doris is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at Mowery Funeral Service Chapel, 9110 North Garnett Road, Owasso, OK 74055. Interment will be in the city cemetery in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Doris to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
