Larry Ray Trusty was born November 13, 1948, in Paris, Arkansas, to Victor Albert and Betty Edelda (Scrudder) Trusty. He died Thursday, July 28, 2016, on his 44th wedding anniversary in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 67 years. Larry was reared and educated in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating with the Union High School Class of 1967. He received his pilot license his junior year of high school. He served 6 years in the Oklahoma Air National Guard. He continued his education attending the Spartan School of Aeronautics. He was married July 28, 1972, to Gayla Bruce Trusty. Larry spent 30 years with American Airlines in Tulsa, retiring in 2008 as an inspector. After retiring he started his own small aircraft business at his home on Gundy’s airport. His was known for his honest and trustworthy work ethic and his many customers became his friends. He enjoyed going to Oshkosh, Sun n Fun and took every chance to fly. He would say his get away from a house full of girls was flying. He always told Gayla that he felt closer to God when he was among the clouds and did a lot of his praying up in the air. He was a devoted son, caring brother, loving husband, a gentle father, and a doting papa. Besides his love of God and family he was passionate about flying. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Young Eagles, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and Vintage Aircraft Association. Larry was a faithful Christian and an active member of Owasso First Assembly of God. He loved his Monday morning community group fixing the things that needed to be repaired around the church, but mostly drinking coffee and bugging Donna Kerr. Most important to him was God, family, and especially joking around with his grandchildren. Once he learned to text “LOL,” it had a whole new meaning to his grandchildren… to his family it means “Lots of Love.”
