On Friday, August 5th 2016 at approximately 8:20PM Owasso Police responded to reports of a disturbance at the Owasso Sports Park located at 10320 E 116 St N in Owasso.
Callers reported an individual screaming at random people that he was armed with a gun and was going to kill someone; however no weapon was ever presented or seen by anyone. It was also unclear if the threat was made towards any specific person.
Upon the arrival of officers the entire sports park was evacuated. Owasso Police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers used teams of officers, thermal cameras and K9 units to search for the suspect, to no avail. The suspect was reported to be a tall slender white male with reddish hair, wearing camouflage cargo shorts and a grey tank top.
Once the park was secured the search moved into neighborhoods adjacent to the Sports Park, also to no avail. This incident is under further investigation; however the Owasso Sports Park is now back open.
