a-freemanAfton “Al” Freeman was born February 17, 1945, in Gloster, Mississippi, to Smiley Isaiah and Lottie (Melton) Freeman. He died Sunday, October, 2, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years. Al completed his secondary education in Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated with the Memphis Technical High School Class of 1963. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army serving in Germany, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and St. Louis, Missouri, from 1965-1968. He was a decorated sharpshooter and expert with the pistol. Al was married September 16, 1965, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Rebecca “Becky” Jones. They moved to Owasso, Oklahoma, in 1980. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2004. He later married Louise Davis on June 5, 2010, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Al was a faithful member of Tulsa Family Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon for many years. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including fishing, hunting, bowling, and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Frances “Fran” Osborne, of Roanoke, Virginia
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Smiley Lee Freeman and Davis Freeman, two sisters, Brenda Faye Freeman and Velma Carlene Freeman, and his first wife Becky.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016, at First Assembly of God in Owasso with Pastor Jerry Eperson officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Bryan Schaffner, Nathan Schaffner, Jeremy Shipman, Andy Shipman, Jimmy Davis and Gene Roper. Honorary casket bearers will be Dan Freeman, Wallace Adams, Bill Adams, Will Freeman, and Jerry Davis. Committal service and interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 1022, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
